I don’t get the hugely elaborate cakes for one year olds, I just really don’t.  Now, I’ll grant you SOME exceptions, like if your baby was born with a life threatening condition and you feel blessed that the poor tyke made it to one year, or similarly may not see many more so each one has to be BIG, but for your average, run of the mill baby, do you really need an awesome super hero cake?? I love the cake, it was amazing to see it done, I would love to go to almost any event and see this cake, but not a first birthday.  This is really just daddy’s cake with the kid’s name on it. Granted, your child may really like super heroes, and giggle and coo every time you turn on the movie/cartoon, but it is YOU who is turning that cartoon on, the child really has no say.  I mean, I’m happy to take your money, and do the work, but fess up people; your kid is an excuse, give them their sesame street and bright colours, and save the heroes for your own big day:)
